The PsyD in School and Child Clinical Psychology program at Mount Saint Vincent University is currently undergoing the required approval processes.

Therefore, please note that while applications are now being accepted for a planned September 2026 start, the program is pending final Senate and MPHEC approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

THE DEGREE

PsyD stands for Doctor of Psychology. This is a professional degree designed to train psychologists who plan on practicing. A PsyD places more emphasis on applied knowledge and practical training and less emphasis on research than a PhD.

The program will consist of three years of full-time study and a one-year pre-doctoral residency.

The GRE will not be required as part of the admissions process.

Because this is a new program, we will only be offering the first year of the program in 2026-2027. We will not be able to assess applicants for advanced standing (i.e., assess for transfer credits) until the later years of the program are also being offered.

THE PROGRAM

The program can only be completed on a full-time basis.

The program can only be completed in person. It will not be offered online.

The program is currently in development with submissions being prepared for review by MSVU’s Senate and the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission (MPHEC). We will apply for accreditation with CPA as soon as possible.
