Welcome to the Mount Writing Centre

Experienced tutors at the Writing Centre help students with academic, professional, or creative written work for undergraduate and graduate programs. This includes all stages of essay and research papers as well as slides, interview questions, creative projects, and grant or program applications. Whether you’re fresh out of high school, have just arrived from overseas, or are coming back to school after several years, our tutors will help you meet your writing goals.
Tutors discuss, read, suggest, and make changes with you. They won’t simply correct papers for you; instead, you will work together on the text. Our aim is to help you learn to do these tasks yourself!
Access core services:
One-to-one appointments with an experienced tutor to help with any stage of a writing project:
- interpret an assignment
- develop a thesis or focus
- create a plan
- research and cite (MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.)
- review slides and posters
- prepare and polish interview questions for qualitative research
- improve sentence-level issues of grammar and style
Book an appointment:
The Writing Centre offers bookable appointment hours as a free service for all Mount students. You can book single or multiple appointments — up to a limit of 1 booked appointment per calendar week per Mount student (any overbookings may be deleted).
For online appointments: Your appointment reminder contains an MS Teams link for a shared meeting space. Can’t see it? No problem: your tutor will contact you at the appointment time, to guide you.
