Mount Saint Vincent University is pleased to announce the presentation of the inaugural Lieutenant Governor’s Intergenerational Award at this year’s Convocation.
The Honourable Mayann E. Francis, O.N.S., DHumL, will present students Lauren Ostler and Ann Gummeson each with an award on Thursday, May 14 at 2 p.m. for their demonstrated leadership, creativity, cooperation and dedication in advancing a social cause through their volunteer efforts with seniors or youth.
“I am thrilled to be presenting the Intergenerational Award to two committed students in recognition of their leadership and commitment to their community and realm of study,” said Her Honour. “Their selflessness will surely carry on as they begin careers and continue to contribute to their professions and our society.”
Lauren Ostler who is graduating with her Bask (AHN) (Dietetics) with the Integrated Internship Education Program will receive the Lieutenant Governor’s Intergenerational Award for Enriching the Lives of Seniors.
Ann Gummeson of the B.Ed Elementary Program, will receive the Lieutenant Governor’s Intergenerational Award for Enriching the Lives of Youth. Both women were nominated by faculty members at the Mount.
“The Intergenerational Awards are an excellent fit with the Mount’s historic emphasis on social responsibility,” says Kathryn Laurin, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University. “These awards align well with the Mount’s Strategic Plan, Destination 2012, and our vision of developing thoughtful, engaged citizens who make a positive impact on their world,” she says.
The presentation of both awards will take place during Thursday’s Convocation ceremony in the Seton Academic Center Auditorium.
