To the MSVU community,
At 2 p.m. (Atlantic Time) on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 – the one-week anniversary of the devastating crash of Ukraine International Airlines flight 752 in Tehran, Iran – Mount Saint Vincent University will join universities and communities across the country in a minute of silence honouring all those who so tragically lost their lives.
I encourage members of the MSVU community to join in this shared tribute if possible. The minute of silence can be observed wherever you are, on your own or collectively. The University will be setting up two memorials on January 15, providing spaces at which people may choose to gather. These will be located in the McCain Atrium and on the Rosaria Terrace (3rd floor, Rosaria Student Centre).
This tragedy directly affected students, faculty, staff and alumni from more than 20 universities and colleges in Canada, and indirectly affected countless more. The loss is being felt deeply across the country and beyond.
A reminder that supports are available: students in need of support can contact Counselling Services; faculty and staff support is available through our Employee and Family Assistance Program (intranet link).
Sincerely,
Mary
