Ways to get Involved
Volunteer
The Mount Community Garden is always looking for student and community volunteers. We are busy year ’round with workshops and events, construction projects, composting, research, grant writing, planning, and of course gardening!
If you are a Mount student you can participate in our Garden Society and can receive Co-Curricular Recognition for getting involved. If you are a student taking Business & Tourism courses, you can count 10 hours of volunteer work as a Learning Passport Activity.
To learn more about volunteering or becoming a member of our Student Garden Society, contact our Community Garden Coordinator.
Get a Plot
Currently we have a short waiting list for plots at the garden. Gardeners contribute volunteer hours towards communal plots including the “nibbling plot for all” and our “market garden plots”, workshops, and/or helping out with garden maintenance.
If you are interested in a garden plot, email garden@msvu.ca.
Research
The garden offers space for research projects related to community gardens. Please contact the Community Garden Coordinator with proposals.
Classes and Events
Take your class outside to the community garden. In the past, academic departments have held social events at the garden, conducted lectures on local food, used the garden as a source of inspiration for writing, and have toured and worked in the garden as part of their labs.
Contact the Community Garden Coordinator to schedule your class or event today!
