A few days before the start of your Microcredential at MSVU you will receive two emails; one with login information and another with orientation information. Below are a number of Frequently Asked Questions to help you have a successful start to your Microcredential.
How do I log in to my online course website?
Your course is located at https://microcredentials.msvu.ca/login/. When you log in, you will have access to all of the material your instructor has prepared and your virtual course room. The details you need to log in will be sent to you in an email a few days before the start of the course. The email subject line will be: Microcredentials at Mount Saint Vincent University: New user account. Your username and password will be in this message. Please remember to check your junk mail for this email.
The login information is for your exclusive use and should not be shared with anyone.
What technology do I need to access my online course?
An online course requires you to be actively engaged, which means you will benefit from having the following:
- Internet connection. We highly recommend high speed internet.
- Access to a computer or mobile device. Courses are designed for computers, and not all features will be optimized for use with a tablet or mobile device.
- Access to web browsers. An up-to-date version of Google Chrome or Firefox is recommended.
- Headset with microphone, or a microphone and speakers.
Aside from the technology listed above, what should I do to be prepared for my first online “live” session?
Test your login and join the virtual course room. Attend a free session with a Tech Navigator in advance of your first class to ensure that your technology is working properly and that you are able to access the course and join the virtual course room. These sessions are offered on the following dates and times:
- Monday October 16 2023 at 2:00pm or 6:00pm AST
- Tuesday October 17 2023 at 2:00pm or 6:00pm AST
- Wednesday October 18 2023 at 2:00pm AST
To join these sessions, follow the instructions in the orientation video and PDF walkthrough (with images and printable) to access your course site and join the Virtual Course Room. If you have difficulty logging in, or if one of these dates and times does not fit into your schedule, you can contact helpdesk@msvu.ca to ask for an alternative time to connect with a Tech Navigator.
How can I join my virtual course room (“live” online sessions)?
Your virtual course room is used to attend “live” online sessions. Follow the steps in the orientation video and/or PDF walkthrough (with images and printable) to join your virtual course room.
How do I access my ebook?
Not all Microcredentials include an ebook. If your Microcredential includes an ebook you will receive an access code and instructions a few days prior to the start of the course. Follow the instructions in that email to redeem your book. Specific questions about the ebook redemption process should be directed to the MSVU bookstore at https://shop.msvu.ca/about-us/contact-us .
How can I get help if and when I need it?
If you have any difficulty accessing the course, please reach out to the MSVU Helpdesk at 902-457-6538 or at helpdesk@msvu.ca. The MSVU Helpdesk is open Monday to Thursday from 8:30am to 8:00pm and Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Helpdesk staff can help troubleshoot your issues or can connect you with a Tech Navigator.
