Graduate Education Cohorts
A cohort is an applied (non-thesis, MEd) degree program. In a cohort, all ten courses are set out for students to take in a specific order. Students in a cohort group take all of their courses together over the course of two years.
Degree Options
As a graduate student, you are able to pursue our programs through different degree options. Mount Saint Vincent University offers graduate students:
- Master of Education (MEd)
- Master of Arts in Education (MAEd)
- Master of Arts in School Psychology (MA SP), and
- Inter-University Doctoral Program in Educational Studies (PhD)

Curriculum Studies
Earn a degree in General Curriculum Studies, Supporting Learners with Diverse Needs & Exceptionalities (SLDNE) or Educational Technology
Educational Foundations:
Explore how the foundational disciplines of history, philosophy, and sociology of education affect educational theory and practice.
Educational Psychology:
Support learners with varied needs by pursuing a concentration in Education of the Blind and Visually Impaired or Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Elementary and Middle School Education:
Expand your teaching skills by exploring the relationship between curriculum and teaching in elementary and middle schools.
Literacy Education
Develop the advanced skills that will help you meet the complex demands of fostering literacy learning in schools, in community sites, and in a variety of workplaces.
Lifelong Learning
Develop a broad view of learning and teaching that transpires both within and beyond formal schooling contexts.
School Psychology
Balance research, theory, and practice in this two-year, full-time clinical specialty program.
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)
A graduate program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) will prepare you with the skills to facilitate the learning and teaching of English as an additional language.
Inter-University Doctoral Program
Offered jointly with Acadia University and St. Francis Xavier University, the Mount’s Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Educational Studies is composed of foundations of educational inquiry, research paradigms and methodologies, theories, and focused educational studies.
