Dear MSVU students, faculty and staff,
The Federal and Provincial governments have designated Monday, September 19, 2022 a one-time holiday to mark the day of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. The Province has indicated that government offices, P-12 schools and regulated child care will be closed.
In light of this announcement, and in keeping with current collective agreements, MSVU will be closed for normal operations on Monday, September 19 and classes will not be held.
Certain services that usually remain open on holidays (e.g. the Library and Athletics & Recreation) will be open for limited holiday hours this Monday. The MSVU Health Office will also remain open. The COVID-19 vaccination clinic planned for September 19 will continue as scheduled.
Per our holiday closure procedures, a limited number of staff will be required to work on this day, though they can take this day at another time. Please speak with your supervisor should you have any questions.
This one-time holiday may require an adjustment to the university’s fall timetable, to be determined based on discussions at Senate. An update will be shared as soon as possible if a change is required.
Sincerely,
Joël
