Getting Involved on campus as an International Student
There are many ways for you to get involved at Mount Saint Vincent University. One of the easiest ways to get involved in university life is to join a club or society. You get to meet other students who share similar interests and gain volunteer experience in the community.
The International Education Centre offers two clubs and societies that give students a chance to meet other students from around the world. These two societies are the International Student Society (ISS) and the World University Service of Canada (WUSC).
International Student Society
The International Student Society (ISS) is a society where every creed, race, and religion finds commonality. We respect all opinions and celebrate our diversity and differences. We encourage members to bring a piece of their nation with them.
World University Service of Canada
Formed in 2006, the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) at MSVU is part of over 80 WUSC local committees in Canada. Our MSVU committee is made up of students, staff and faculty who want change and are passionate about international development. The WUSC takes on many different projects, one of which is raising money for the Student Refugee Program.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are plenty of companies and organizations in Halifax that you can volunteer with. The IEC also provides volunteer opportunities that you can use for your Co-Curricular Record (CCR).
Academic Clubs & Societies
Many departments here on campus host their own academic society, such as the psychology society. These societies are led by students and faculty in the department. If you are interested in joining or want to find out what events they offer, contact a faculty member in the department to find out more.
Students’ Union
Our Students’ Union offers several clubs and societies throughout the school year, which are a great way to become involved on campus. The MSVU Students’ Union encourages any student to start or join a society and is happy to help you get started.
