The Mount’s researchers are among the best in many fields, including Dr. Angie Birt, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, who along with Mount student Philip Aucoin, was part of the first-ever multi-site research replication initiative of the journal Perspectives on Psychological Science, published by the Association for Psychological Science.
According to the Association, this innovative replication study “has generated results that have important implications for eyewitness memory. The project confirms earlier findings that asking witnesses to provide a verbal description of a suspect can impair their ability to select that suspect from a lineup — the so-called ‘verbal overshadowing’ effect.”
The Mount applauds Dr. Birt and student Philip Aucoin for their important contribution to this work. Official News Release (Perspectives on Psychological Science).
