Mount Saint Vincent University has joined over 100 countries across the globe to support and celebrate International Education Week during the week of November 14-17. For the Mount, a number of events are focusing on raising awareness and understanding of international education and its contributions throughout the world.
This year’s celebratory theme is “Canada Engages with the World: Realizing our Potential through International Education.” A number of international students at the Mount are showcasing their experiences with the campus community during a number of events scheduled throughout the week.
On Monday, the week opened with an official kickoff event in which the Mount community could learn from student societies about international initiatives. The day’s festivities ended at Vinnie’s Pub with an evening of trivia at “Glamour Games”. Tuesday was the day for the international student exchange fair, in which members of the Mount community learned about traveling abroad while earning their degree. Yesterday, the Mount community gathered for an International Projects lunch and learn event, where guests heard about development opportunities and international projects from a number of faculty members as well as Nova Scotia Business Inc.
Tonight, the Mount community is invited to “Shine a Light” pub night, to raise funds for girls in refugee campus with solar lamps so they can study at night. The event will take place from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. in Vinnie’s Pub at the Mount.
And finally, on November 25, International Education Week celebrations will be recognized at the 10th Annual Multicultural Night. Celebrate diversity at the Mount and mark the milestone by purchasing a ticket or table. Price: $25 for Mount students or $240 for a table, $35 for faculty & staff or $340 for a table. Prices includes dinner, show and after party.
