On Thursday, October 30th, 2014, the 40th Annual Business & Tourism Conference at Mount Saint Vincent University will connect university and college students with the best in Atlantic business. Experienced CEOs, human resource specialists, and leading entrepreneurs will highlight important skills for young professionals, offering a glimpse of what it takes to succeed after graduation.

“The Mount recognizes the importance of learning routed in experience and the value of connecting students with leaders in their fields,” said Dr. Peter Mombourquette, Chair of the Mount’s Department of Business and Tourism. “Our conference brings business lessons to life, helping to build a real-world understanding of what’s taught in the classroom.”

Jessica and Rebecca Skinner are two perfect examples of the power of experiential learning in kick-starting careers. Twins and soon-to-be graduates of the Mount’s Business Administration program, both Jessica and Rebecca secured their first full-time jobs through co-op placements before they wrapped up their degrees – Jessica with BDO Canada and Rebecca with Nova Scotia Business Inc. Both will be attending portions of the conference and they will also share the podium at the Mount’s fall convocation at 2 p.m. on November 2nd as Valedictorians. (Read their story here.)
